I thought this design followed all of the parameters of the assignment: no bleed, appropriate illustrations, and even though no information is given in the comp. it can easily fit into this layout. The first thing i noticed about this design was that the title was missing, it instead had a big attention getter: "got chili?" I thought it was pretty effective in terms of getting attention, but then what are people supposed to do? the actual name of the event is absent, if it were placed under the attention getter, i think it would work a lot better.
Another thing that really caught my eye was the illustrations. I thought they worked really well. Also, the placement of text and illustrations gives the reader some direction, the text slides from the top left to bottom right. It's just very easily understandable and the illustrations are fun to look at.
The only thing left to mention is the lack of text in the comp. It isn't really a big issue, i guess i just would've like to have seen it in here to know exactly where everything is going to go. But since there is space blocked out, type can be easily placed in those areas.
So all in all, i enjoyed this design, it would be awesome with a few tweaks here and there, hope the final thing looks good!
